Pink Vinyl for October's Breast Cancer Awareness month!

As you may or may not know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and in support of those who fought or are currently fighting cancer, RED distribution has reissued 10 bands' records on limited edition pink vinyl. We are so honored to be a part of this unique initiative started by Alex Brody.

$1 of every pink record goes directly to Gilda's Club NYC. Formed in fond memory of Gilda Radner, the foundation provides networking, support, groups, educational lectures, workshops and social activities, all free of charge to those who need it.

The titles we have are:
Temples - Sun Structures

In addition to the above titles on lovely pink vinyl, we'll have a donation box for Keep A Breast on the counter for the whole month of October. Be sure to tell everyone to bring their cash or checks to support!

Last but not least, Hard Candy, Spotify and 'Stache Media created a 10-track Spotify playlist containing one track from each of the 10 albums reissued on pink vinyl. Hard Candy will donate $1 for every follower to the playlist for the first 1,000 followers. Follow the playlist here.

OV WEEKLY: The Start Of Something Spooky

This week at OV is a heavy one. We've got a lot on our plate and are looking to share the best bits with you. Hungry? Then let's get to the Weekly! (Also look at that cute lil bat. Ugh.)

Monday, September 29th
The Orwells @ Fonda Theatre! Fenech Soler Monday Night Residency @ The Echo!

To get your week started right, head over to the Fonda Theatre tonight for a sure-to-be-crazy night of music from The Orwells! Longtime snot-nosed punk ruffians and perennial OV favorites, The Orwells descend on the Fonda tonight in support of their newest album Disgraceland. Chock full of garage crushing punk and plenty of open road screamers, Disgraceland is the perfect album to get those Monday night blues out with, so we better see you rockin' out tonight at the Fonda!

Also on tap: Fenech Soler @ The Echo!

Sometimes when the world gets this hot, music is the only thing that gets those legs moving. And so for their September residency, our buds at The Echo have booked the eminently danceable Fenech Soler to motivate those calves and thighs! Purveyors of groove-centric electro-rock, Fenech Soler have recently embraced their pop leanings with heartfelt punch, opening up their hearts and dance moves to the world with 2012's Rituals, which catapulted Fenech Soler to widespread attention across Europe. Now looking to conquer U.S soils, Fenech Soler take over The Echo tonight at 9PM and are ready to get those sloppy September feet jumping again. To get ready for tonight's show, check out Fenech Soler's single "Magnetic" below and then meet us at The Echo at 9!

Tuesday, September 30th

The hits keep on coming at OV with new releases this week! Headlined by new albums from The Drums a killer Oasis reissue, OV's got you covered on the new, old and everything in between. There's more to grab, but for that, you're gonna have to check the full list on our blog tomorrow morning!

If you're looking for some live music this Tuesday night, we've got plenty of options for ya as OV faves La Luz, Wand and Talk In Tongues are playing across L.A! First up, La Luz will be serving up 60s vibes and girl group choruses as openers for Wand at The Echo before their psych-rock partners floor the room with their swirling brand of guitar myth-making. A perfect one-two punch. Across town, Talk In Tongues will be opening for the perpetually sublime Cibo Matto at the Roxy! Finishing up the fine details of their newest album, (and recently featured on Noisey!!) tonight is the perfect place to sneak a peek at the future of Talk In Tongues while enjoying the awesome power of Cibo Matto! See you there!

Wednesday, October 1st
The Start Of Something Spooky!

Oh yes. It's finally October. Which means something wicked this way comes.. What will it be? Simone brandishing her latest wall-of-noise punk record? The wail of Christine's EEEEEEEs emanating from every dark corner? The ghost of single Sean (RIP)? Who knows, but no matter what, it's gonna be 31 days of fright right here at OV. So you better keep a keen eye on the blog so you've got the drop on Halloween at OV before it's too late..

P.S. Looking to go to a Horror-full concert for free? Check the giveaways below!

Thursday, October 2nd
The War On Drugs @ Fonda Theatre!

One of our most anticipated shows of the year, tonight at the Fonda, The War On Drugs make their L.A debut in support of their newest album Lost In The Dream! An OV fave and one of our best sellers, Lost In The Dream is the perfect record for the transition into Fall and longer, colder nights. Full of cascading guitars and hazy lyrics, Lost In The Dream mixes the voices of Springsteen and Dylan into a heady Americana mix that we just can't get enough of and can't wait to see live tonight at the Fonda!

Fiday, October 3rd

Jungle @ The Fonda!

From Jungle's bio: "It’s the hottest day of the year. Slender bodies swaying in the heat haze. You’re on a beach, but it’s more than a beach – the colours are brighter, the sunlight warmer, the cool sea a more psychedelic shade of turquoise. And somewhere nearby there’s a band playing… This is where Jungle want to take you. An infinite holiday, a place called bliss, a great escape from the grey and the everyday – because, as aesthetes from Oscar Wilde to Pharrell Williams knew, there is nothing so serious as fun and nothing as subversive as happiness."

Now that's is the way to celebrate Friday. Emily will be there, all smiles and sway. So you better be there too!

OV PRESENTS: HOTT MT + Pomar + Vinyl Willaims TONIGHT @ Downstairs At Fifty Seven!

Yo, looking for something to do tonight? One that involves crazy music and energy? Well then let us direct your attention to HOTT MT's show tonight Downstairs @ Fifty Seven! Supported by Pomar & Vinyl Williams, we're super excited to be presenting such a great night of live music!

At the top of the bill, HOTT MT is an Origami favorite ever since we released their collaborative single with Wayne Coyne in '12. Now touring on the release of their new album I Made This and a bunch of kickass EPs, they'll be throwing down pop grooves all night long! Here's what The Echo has had to say about the group:

"International sensation HOTT MT (Hour Of The Time Majesty Twelve), is an experimental post-pop collective based in Los Angeles, CA. HOTT MT is the result of an ongoing curiosity project between Queen Ashi Dala and Spooky Tavi, which expanded to include multi-instrumentalist Bahd Bad in December of 2011, and guitarist Guitty Dryver and drummer Chairman Towel in early 2012. Thoughts and anxieties about myth, experience, conspiracy theories, and Thailand fuel the groups explorations.

HOTT MT's debut LP “I Made This” was released in May, and they recently completed work w/ The Flaming Lips on a Stone Roses cover album (release TBD). Live highlights include shows supporting Bat For Lashes, Wavves, Frightened Rabbit, Ra Ra Riot, Django Django, Robert DeLong, Hands, and The Flaming Lips, including their Guinness World Record setting event."

OV WEEKLY: The Return of the Weekly!

FYF was here and then was gone. AND IT WAS AWESOME! We were so happy to see all of your smiling faces at our tent and even happier when we moshed and danced with you all weekend long. It was like Jackie Chan & puppies. Yeah, that's how good it was.

Monday, September 1st
"God Help The Girl OST" Release Party & Signing w/ Stuart Murdoch of Belle & Sebastian @ 3PM!

Yes, you read that right! Stuart Murdoch of Belle & Sebastian will be in-store at Origami Vinyl TODAY at 3PM doing a signing and soundtrack premiere party for his new film "God Help The Girl"!

In 2009, Belle & Sebastian fans were in a sorry state. Three years past the sublime Dear Catastrophe Waitress and full year before the release of Write About Love, the horizon looked bleak for fans itching for their B&S fix. And then, like manna from heaven, Stuart Murdoch released God Help The Girl. Featuring Stuart penned songs and a cache of supremely talented female leads, God Help The Girl spun songs about female travails amongst the hustle and bustle of an imaginary Glasgow. Sweetly sung and warmly received, God Help The Girl became something more after its successful release, eventually morphing into a feature-length movie musical written, directed, and soundtracked by Stuart himself.

Starring Emily Browning, Olly Alexander and Hannah Murray, "God Help The Girl" fleshes out Stuart's 2009 vision into a fully realized coming-of-age story set in "the bohemian fantasia of Glasgow's West End, which is populated by mods, rockers, and emo kids who have no qualms about breaking into song and dance." Visually thrilling with its 60s revival aesthetic and danceable in a way that only Stuart Murdoch can, "God Help The Girl" hits theaters September 5th, but today at Origami, you can get a sneak peek of "God Help The Girl" before anyone else!

Starting at 3PM, we'll premiere the God Help The Girl OST while Stuart hangs out in the shop and signs your LPs! It's gonna be a wonderful afternoon with Stuart and we can't wait to see you there! Wanna make sure you meet Stuart before his time with us is up? We'll be giving all God Help The Girl OST pre-orders front-of-the-line privileges, so make sure you pre-order the LP before we run out!

So. Take a deep breath, look in the mirror, and tell yourself: "Today I'm meeting Stuart Murdoch." And then do it. The fun gets started at 3PM, but you might wanna get here a bit earlier than that!

Tuesday, September 2nd
New Releases Are A Tidal Wave Of Post-FYF Goodness!

We've been holding back. Keeping all the post-FYF goodies on the DL. But tomorrow we're blowing this sucker out with everything we've got since FYF. Ty Segall? Yep. New Pornographers. Oh yeah. Is there more than that? You bet. So get your umbrellas out, cause tomorrow's gonna be a torrent of brand new wax! Check the full list in the morning!

After you've survived our new release storm, you best be bringing that new vinyl down to RCLA to give it a virgin spin! The best place to hear what your local buds are digging, RCLA gives YOU the opportunity to spin your records and even snag a free drink in the process! The fun gets started at 9PM, and tonight is 7" night, so dig out those singles (or very brief punk EPs) and get ready for a night of great music!

Wednesday, September 3rd
Strand of Oaks @ The Echo!

Maybe you've heard of Strand of Oaks. Maybe you've heard their 2014 LP Heal. Or perhaps you discovered Timothy Showalter's hauntingly beautiful brand of singer-songwriter melancholy long before then. Or perhaps you haven't heard a single song from Strand of Oaks. Either way, you need to hear the man live tonight at The Echo. That's all we've got to say. See you there!

Friday, September 5th
The Rentals @ The Fonda!

For some reason, this show doesn't actually seem real. When I first discovered The Rentals in the sad months after I had fully digested Weezer's early output, it was a sign that maybe everything would be ok. Return of The Rentals was always one of those holy grail albums, and I was fully content to listen to "Friends Of P" for the millionth time. And then, out of nowhere The Rentals actually returned! Now touring in support of their newest album Lost In Alphaville, we are wayyy too excited for this show tonight at the Fonda!

That's all for this week! Enjoy every moment of it! And keep your eyes peeled on our blog, Facebook & Twitter.
